Prof. Dr. Endang Semiarti is a professor at the Faculty of Biology, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), specializing in the molecular genetic principles of plant development, plant biotechnology (including in vitro plant propagation and genetic engineering), and orchidology. Her research spans plant cell and molecular biology, tissue culture, and developmental genetics, with a focus on Orchidaceae and model plants such as Arabidopsis thaliana. She has held numerous academic leadership roles at UGM, including Head of the Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory, Head of the Tropical Biology Department (2017–2020), and Vice Dean for Research, Collaboration, Alumni, and Student Affairs. Her intellectual property portfolio includes national and international patents related to improving genetic transformation efficiency in orchids.
